Ellen Keating, LICSW believes that especially during a crisis, it is important to help each individual discover their own strengths and find a path forward. Whether it's a substance abuse problem, a history of trauma or a woman working through a difficult transition, she helps individuals find the strength within them and guides them in their journey. Ms. Keating has always been a strong advocate for women and has facilitated psycho-educational groups for women in domestic violence relationships and for children who witnessed domestic violence. She also facilitated groups for adolescents who had been charged with domestic violence. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker she has worked with individuals and families in various stages of crisis for over twenty years. From the Department of Mental Health, the Massachusetts Court System, and South Shore Mental Health Crisis Team, she has reached many people facing issues that initially felt insurmountable. Rather than feel overwhelmed, she is challenged to take on difficult circumstances and find a way to help her clients to heal and recover.
Her work focuses on helping those individuals and families experiencing stress, having difficulty with life transitions, and having problems in coping with their daily lives. She has worked with adolescents, adults, and families with a wide range of presenting conditions including substance abuse, past trauma, domestic violence, stress disorders, depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders.
Various theoretical approaches are integrated in her work, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, individual, and family systems therapy. She has a humanistic, client centered, strength-based relational approach, incorporating a developmental perspective and a family systems orientation.
Ms. Keating graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Women's Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, MA. She received a Master's Degree in Social Work from the Boston University School of Social Work in Boston, MA. She is a certified mediator and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She is presently in the process of pursuing her certification as a holistic health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
