Emily Chang, LICSW
Emily is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in a variety of settings including schools, in-home/community, outpatient, and a pediatrician’s office.
Emily approaches her work with a strengths-based, solution-focused, and collaborative style and utilizes techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; interventions and strategies are tailored to each person’s individual needs.
She creates a safe space where clients can explore and understand their thoughts and feelings with an emphasis on self-compassion and reducing negative judgments. She encourages clients to identify manageable goals they would like to work towards and to focus on one small step at a time. Emily strives to meet clients where they are in their mental health journey in order to provide appropriate and meaningful interventions and support.
Background & Qualifications
Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College with a clinical focus in children, youth, and families.
